Meteorologist

Britley Ritz is the morning meteorologist for WHIO and Storm Center 7. Britley returns to the Miami Valley after interning with WHIO nearly 10 years ago. Britley was born in Richmond, IN and raised in the Miami Valley's very own Greenville, Ohio. Britley's passion for weather started when she was just seven years old. A tornado touched down in northern Darke Co. within her very own front yard and her phobia for weather began and sprouted her career in meteorology. Britley attended Ball State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Physics, Meteorology, and Climatology. Britley began her professional television career in meteorology at KQDS in Duluth, MN. She then traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa working for the dominant station KCRG for three years. Britley loves the state of Florida for its atmosphere and beaches. She travels there frequently to vacation and smell the warm salt air. Britley also loves to study hurricanes and actually did her case study on Hurricane Sandy and its extratropical transition into a mid-latitude cyclone. So, when WPBF in West Palm Beach, FL called to offer her a job, she didn't refuse. Britley covered Hurricane Michael and Hurricane Dorian within her tenure at WPBF and won her first Emmy for the coverage. Soon after, The Weather Channel called Britley offering her a job to work with Local Now where she stayed for nearly 3 years. Most recently, Britley has worked for CNN covering domestic and international weather including coronation weather coverage out of the United Kingdom and the record-breaking Super Typhoon Mawar near Guam. Britley has a passion for helping those in need and has developed and patented a new weather alert system for the United States and the deaf and hard of hearing. She's also developed a non-profit, Raining Angels to help the disabled and handicapped pre- and post-disaster. "I am extremely blessed to be able to come home and forecast for my friends and family. All while being able to work for the station that initially took me in and helped me grow. Plan on seeing me in the mornings for many years ahead."
